Browser extension improving grading experience
The TA (Teaching Assistant; students helping with class grading as work-study) team, including me, was repeatedly instructed to work around the grading tool on Forum, the university's learning platform. I suggested fixes to the university IT team a year ago; nothing changed, so I built them myself:
Random student order: no more jumping around the page to stay fair
Blind grading by default: no more covering names by hand before turning on blind grading
Grading progress display: easily tell when to take a break
Comment boxes that grow with text: easily review your whole comment
Built with Claude Code, shipped in under 12 hours.
Engineering discipline: Version control, pull requests, consistent version bumps per feature, up-to-date docs, CI that deploys to the Chrome Web Store on merge, 84 automated tests, and full manual E2E tests.
Safe AI usage: Used offline page captures and HAR dumps for the agent to reverse-engineer Forum, isolating it from live student data.
Understood before accepting: Questioned all major decisions such as OAuth setup, secret handling, and permissions instead of running agents blindly.
Planned before coding: Manually built a detailed spec naming URLs, exact UI strings, edge cases, and performance constraints.
